Skin Tutorial by acidlullaby Skin Tutorial by acidlullaby
Skin is fascinating, this is not a skin tones tutorial but more of a skin optics kinda thing. Btw I never went to art school or whatever, so erm, this is not the absolute word on the topic, just a collection of thoughts.

For info about what brushes I use check out the Blending Tutorial:[link]

I'm using Photoshop CS2 and Wacom Intuos 2 for this.

Edit: apologies to those of you who are freaked out by the little skin balls, hahahahaha, sorry really

Daily Deviation

Given 2011-03-26
Skin Tutorial by *acidlullaby has been suggested to me by at least three people over the past few months to receive a Daily Deviation feature. Here's what each suggester said about this wonderful tutorial:

=Darkmind-Pathfinder says, "It's not a new deviation, but IMO one of the best skin tutorials available. The deviant not only explains how to digitally paint realistic skin (incl. skin pores), she also added some extras, such as bruises, scars and veins, which make this tutorial really special."

~its-raining-fish says, "This tutorial is very simple, yet extremely helpful for an artist of any medium to get a grasp on human skin- I really think it deserves a DD!"

=grilledudder says, "I think this tutorial is very easy to understand and very helpful. This helped me so much and I even learned a lot of information that I didn't know before!"

I noticed SSS so many times but had no idea how to call it or how it worked in detail. Thanks for sharing!
One thing baffles me, though. I'm color picking photos and illustrations and your skin balls too, but shadow areas still have higher saturation than light.
I'm confused. Can you explain this to me? Thank you so much, again!
